State Police investigating homicideMaryland State Police are investigating as a homicide the death of a Montgomery County man found shot in his car after it crashed in Frederick early Sunday morning. Maryland State Police responded at 1:30 a.m. Sunday to a single-vehicle crash at the intersection of Hanover Drive and Ballenger Creek Drive. They found a 27-year-old man behind the wheel of a silver Mercury Marquis that had jumped the curb before coming to a rest. Troopers discovered the man, whose name they have not yet released, was shot at least once in his upper torso. The man was flown by Maryland State Police helicopter to Washington County Hospital in Hagerstown, where he later died. Witnesses told police they saw two people running from the area when the shots were fired. State Police said that Frederick County Sheriff's deputies located and interviewed two people, but no charges have been filed as of Monday morning. No arrests have been made, and no weapon has been recovered. A preliminary investigation indicates the man, who State Police say is from Montgomery County, and his girlfriend, who lives in Frederick and whose car he was driving, were at a party in the area. The man unexpectedly left the party and was soon found in the car. No motive for the murder has been identified at this time. State Police troopers are working with the Frederick County Sheriff's Office on the investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call the Frederick barracks of the Maryland State Police at 301-600-4151.
